How to use the Data Portal

Observational data download

The data download is done in few steps :

  1. Select the period for which you want to retrieve data.
  2. Select the parameters you want to download. The download will provide only the flight for which at least one of the parameters is available.
  3. Select the ancillary parameters. Those pararameters are not measured by the insrtruments but are model data.
  4. Select the mission. You can choose to download data from only one or some of IAGOS sub-projects.
  5. Select the geographical area. You can use the drag and drop selection on the map or enter the coordinates in the fields.
  6. Choose the type of the results of your selection:
    1. Entire IAGOS flights which have at least one observation matching the selection.
    2. Only the profiles : A file per vertical profile matching the selection.
  7. Choose the file format. See the page for more information.

You have different actions available :

  1. Search :
    1. This action is available even if you aren’t logged in.
    2. It will display on the map the tracks of the flights matching the selection.
    3. It will also display the list the flight with their information and a link to their quicklook.
    4. If you have chosen “Only the profiles” as result type then the airports will be displayed on the map instead of the tracks.
  2. Download :
    1. You need to be connected to download the data.
    2. Your download will start automatically. It’s a zip file containing the result of your selection.
    3. The download can take a long time if you request return a large amount of flights.
