Data quality

Data quality

For each observation measured by IAGOS-CORE and IAGOS-CARIBIC instruments, uncertainty and two quality flags are provided.

Uncertainty

The uncertainty is provided for all the measurements made by IAGOS sensors. See here for the calculation of uncertainty for each variable.

Data processing level flag

This flag provides the data processing level the observation.

ValueState of processing
0Raw data
1Intermediate data
2Final quality controlled data

See the definition of the data processing levels for more information.

Validity flag

This flag provides the quality of the observations. A quality flag is also provided on the meteorological fields and coordinates since it sometime may evaluated.

ValueState of validtyDefinition
0GoodPassed documented required QC tests
2Limited (questionable/suspect)Failed non‐critical documented metric or subjective test(s)
3Erroneous/badFailed critical documented QC test(s) or as assigned by the data provider
4Not validatedUsed for data when no QC test performed or the information on quality is not available
7Missing valueUsed as placeholder when data are missing
